For the first time in history, every American saw the evidence to be used against a sitting president in his impeachment trial. Oh, and Trump is the first president in history to be impeached twice. There’s that.

It would be impossible to list all the ways this president added momentum to this insurrection. But it is easy to point to The Big Lie; that he somehow, invisibly, with no proof of it, despite the debunking by his own appointees and Republican State officials, won re-election.

There was a moment when you might have stopped the riot. Now you can’t stop impeachment. Pretty words won’t save this one-term president, even if he could pronounce them.

Trump missed that moment, but he did tell his minions that the police were with them. (But that didn’t help the police officer who was beaten to death or the one who may lose an eye or the one who committed suicide shortly after responding to the riot, or…)
