While the presidential race may still be up for grabs, Democrats have managed to hold on to their majority in the House. Election night saw all four members of “The Squad”, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley, and Ilhan Omar, win their reelection bids.

This foursome of progressive women will now see their ranks swell by two.

Taking down a Missouri political dynasty, Cori Bush becomes the first Black woman the state has elected to Congress. A nurse and a pastor, Bush decided to run for office after witnessing violence against Black Lives Matter activists at the hands of police.

Bush plans to be busy when she hits the House. Her top priorities include getting COVID relief passed to help struggling families. And she also wants to tackle Medicare for all, get an eviction moratorium in place, and end qualified immunity.

The other progressive being welcomed by “The Squad” is New York City native Jamaal Bowman. “I’m ready to get to work to disrupt the status quo and deliver for our families,” Bowman said. He was endorsed by both Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
