The pain is immeasurable. Families and children may never recover. And those already miraculously re-united may have already suffered irreparable damage.

As the parent of a son who was separated from his birth mother I know he will have to manage this trauma his whole life. Multiply that 545 times for the children that were separated from their parents at the border. And vote.

Who knows how high the number really is

We may never know. Not only are the parents affected, but so are the siblings. Just imagine having your little brother or sister disappear. For years.

Zero tolerance for this policy

Immigrants come to America in the hope of a better life. They come from countries torn apart by war, climate change, and other things.

These families have suffered immensely before they arrive on our shores — it is the reason why they arrive on our shores.

This is the nadir of humanity. We owe everybody a lot more. A minimum of decency. Right now we’re not even close to that.
