The Trump Goodyear boycott is just the latest example of the president using his power capriciously, this time against a 120-year-old American company.
A slide from a regional Goodyear training presentation was posted on social media, prompting a textbook case of backlash that ran right up to the backlasher in chief.

This all started when someone put a photo of a Goodyear training slide on social media, complaining the policy was “discriminatory.” A regional office offered examples of what was acceptable and unacceptable attire. No political attire — check.
Expressions calling for social equity and racial justice are A-okay, but pushback against calls for equality are not acceptable.
Melissa Monaco, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company furnished the following statement:
“Goodyear is committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace where all of our associates can do their best in a spirit of teamwork. As part of this commitment, we do allow our associates to express their support on racial injustice and other equity issues but ask that they refrain from workplace expressions, verbal or otherwise, in support of political campaigning for any candidate or political party as well as other similar forms of advocacy that fall outside the scope of equity issues.”

This has too much subtlety for a blunt tool like Donald Trump. Besides, he’s more interested in calls for inequality.
Goodyear may have set themselves up for a Trump boycott by putting a fine point on MAGA gear, but maybe MeidasTouch will do an ad about the Trump Goodyear attack.

It’s hard to keep track of how many laws this president has broken. The Trump Goodyear boycott is one more example of a law Trump flouts.
18 U.S. Code § 227— Wrongfully influencing a private entity’s employment decisions by a Member of Congress or an officer or employee of the legislative or executive branch.
This is a violation punishable up to 15 years in prison.

The Trump boycott started before Goodyear’s corporate offices could respond. But Twitter users would like to point out some of the finer points of the tire company.
