By now, you’ve probably heard Attorney General William Barr publicly complain about how Trump’s tweets “make it impossible” for him to do his job. We have a dozen of the best Twitter responses to Barr.
Barr’s remarks come after four attorneys resigned from the Roger Stone case. The Justice Department originally recommended Trump’s pal be sentenced to 7-9 years in prison for obstruction and witness tampering—but then watered that down after Trump tweeted criticism about the sentencing.
Out of context, it sounds like Barr is taking a stand against Trump’s attempts to interfere with the DOJ.
But if you read the whole interview, it tells a very different story. Barr spends much of his time defending the choice to recommend a lighter sentence, claiming he planned to do so even before Trump’s tweets.
As Mika Brzezinski put it on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, “It seems what he’s saying is that these tweets make it harder for Bill Barr to help [Trump] be corrupt.”
